We are pleased to announce the release of the latest version of Analytics 1.39.

This version introduces new functionality for changing the data source of a Data View in Analytics to another similar data table in Data Engine.
Some minor UI improvements are also included in this release, impacting Smart Chart.

NEW: Data View source change to another Data Engine table

This new functionality is designed to facilitate the migration from Views, Merges and Fusions in Data Engine to Data Flows. It allows Designers and Administrator users to point their Analytics Data Views to a different Data Engine object.

In Analytics, a new icon now appears in the action menu for each Data View, when the user has Edit permission.

Clicking this button will allow the user to select an alternate Data Engine object.

Conditions to complete the switch:

  • The new data source must not be in use by another Data View.

  • The columns/data fields of the original data source must be present in the new data source.

If either of these two conditions is not met, validation errors will be displayed, indicating the reason.

The first validation checks whether the new data source is already in use, and the second ensures that the columns match.
A new data source in Data Engine, replacing an existing one linked to an Analytics Data View, can have additional data and columns—beyond those which match in name/alias and type with the original data source.

When the validations are passed, a success message will be displayed in the right bottom corner of the screen:

Once the data view source change is successful, the new data will be updated in all existent objects – Insights and Dashboards, built with the Data View where the change was executed.

Display Show Sum only for Bar representation in Smart Charts

This is a small improvement that brings consistency of behaviour across the types of representations of data within a Smart Chart insight template.

Other improvements

The sharing action modal has an updated UI for a unified experience across the application use cases.
