Chat FAQs

Written by Denisa Arjoca

What is the difference between a Chat and a Project?

Chats are lightweight, single-user conversations designed for quick, one-off questions or tasks. They are personal to you and do not support folders, collaborators, or mid-session configuration changes. Projects are full workspaces that support persistent file uploads, connectors, Skills, collaborators, and multiple conversations all sharing the same context. If your work outgrows a Chat, you can convert it to a Project at any time.

Can I use connectors in a Chat?

Yes, but only if they are configured as part of a template. You cannot add connectors or actions directly to a standalone Chat outside of a template. If you need to use connectors without a template, convert the Chat to a Project, where connectors can be configured directly (available on Evo Agentic).

Can I attach a file to a Chat?

Yes. You can attach a file to an individual Chat message using the attachment icon in the message box. The AI will read the file and use it to answer your question in that turn. Attachments do not persist beyond that message - if you need the AI to reference a file throughout a longer session, use a Project with file uploads instead.

Why did my Chat disappear when I lost connection?

If you lose connection mid-session, the current Chat state may not be preserved. This is a known limitation. Wait a moment and refresh the page to reconnect. If the Chat does not reappear, you may need to start a new one.

The AI responded in Chat instead of creating an artifact. How do I get it to produce one?

Ask explicitly: "Save that as an artifact I can preview and download." The AI will then create the artifact, which will appear in the Preview and Artifacts tabs. From there you can download it or copy it for use in other applications.

Can I paste an artifact into Outlook or Word?

Yes. Use the Copy action rather than selecting the preview text manually. Copy preserves formatting correctly. Selecting text directly from the preview can pull in raw Markdown syntax, which appears as unwanted clutter when pasted into Outlook or Word.

How do I get access to Evo Researcher?

An organisation administrator enables Evo Researcher via the Evo Platform Administrator tool. Once enabled, users are assigned either a User or Admin role, and Evo Researcher appears in the Evo navigation menu automatically.
