The chat interface is on the left side of every Evo Builder project. It is where you direct Evo Builder throughout the build process - describing what you want, asking questions, and refining your application as you go.
This article explains the tools available in the chat interface and how to get the most out of them.
Chat modes
Two modes control what happens when you send a message. You can switch between them at any time.
Agent mode (default) - Evo Builder makes changes to your application based on your instructions. Use this mode when you are ready to build or update something.
Ask mode - You can ask questions about what has been built without Evo Builder making any changes. Use this mode when you want to understand how a part of the application works before deciding what to change next.
Managing your chats
The top-left panel can be expanded to see all your previous chats and start new ones. Each chat is a separate conversation within the same project.
When to start a new chat
Starting a new chat for each distinct task keeps conversations focused and produces better results. Start a new chat when:
You have finished one task and are moving on to something unrelated.
The current chat has grown long and results are becoming less accurate.
When to continue the same chat
Continue in the same chat when:
You are following up directly on the previous response.
You are fixing or adjusting something Evo Builder just produced.
đ¤ Tip: Every change Evo Builder makes is saved automatically to your project. Starting a new chat does not lose any of your previous work.
The context indicator
A circular indicator in the chat interface shows what percentage of the conversation window is currently in use - for example, "42%". Hover over it to see a breakdown of how much of the available space has been used.
The fuller the conversation, the more prior context Evo Builder has to work through on each turn, which can reduce accuracy when you move on to new tasks. Start a new chat when the indicator is high and you are beginning something unrelated.
The Prompt Optimiser
When you have typed a message, the Prompt Optimiser (the wand icon in the message box) expands and refines your message automatically. It adds specific detail and makes your instruction clearer before you send it.
Always review the optimised prompt before sending - you can adjust it to make sure it still reflects exactly what you want.
đ¤ Tip: The language you use matters. Descriptive words like modern, professional, and clear layout help Evo Builder produce better results, because they act as filters that guide what it generates.
Attachments
The paperclip icon lets you upload files alongside your message to give Evo Builder more context. You can attach:
A screenshot of how you want something to look.
A design mockup or wireframe.
A document containing requirements or reference content.
Attachments are particularly useful when you want Evo Builder to match a specific visual style or follow a detailed brief.
Voice input
Press the microphone icon to speak your request instead of typing it. Evo Builder transcribes the audio into text so you can review and edit it before sending.
Parallel chats
You can create and work in a new chat while a task in another chat is still running. You do not need to wait for Evo Builder to finish one task before starting another unrelated one.
Tips for better results
Be as specific as possible. Include what screen or section you want to change, what should appear, and where.
Use the Prompt Optimiser before sending to add detail automatically.
Start a new chat for each distinct task rather than continuing one long conversation.
Use Ask mode to explore and understand what has been built before making further changes.
Attach screenshots or documents when you have a specific look or set of requirements in mind.
